7/7 From the Czech Republic to Duxford
Flying from the Czech Republic over Germany and France towards England. Duxford Flying Legends air show.
[12.07.2006] [United Kingdom]

1/7 We go on to Portorose
We drive on to our parking places at Pescara and sit under the wing. Besides that I quickly postpone the flight plan at the controller. We are behind our time so it would expire. We are waiting someone to come to agree on filling and paying the landing fee. Not until after ten minutes of voluptious lounging under the wing I begin to realize that no autobus shall come to pick us up here and that we are free to walk around the airport without anyone running to us quickly to stop us and prohibit us any further step. We are not in Greece any more. So I set off myself towards ARO to negotiate everything. And actually nobody came running towards me and they let me go as far as there, great!

1/7 We fly from Kerkyra over Italy to Pescara
We start saturday morning and ascend straight to level 60. The flight is superbly calm in two kilometers above sea level and here the temperture is pleasant, since the shade temperature below is 37 degrees. We are planning to go from Corfu to Pescara. It comes out well, calculating the gas and wind, estimated to about 5 - 10 kt. But it blows 25 kt straight against us. We have to accelerate to move along at all against the wind. The gasoline runs low faster than I like.

29/6 From Santorini to Mykonos and then as Far as Corfu
We start at sunrise. The wind at 2000 ft stabilizes at around 40 kt. Of course directly against us, how else. We arrive at Mykonos after an hour and twenty minutes. We refuel avgas and go to start again. Nothing to boast of. The wind has some 20 kt and with gusts even over 30 kt. The landing has been difficult too, but Sting managed well. We call our destination airport to make sure there is not the same strong wind blowing crosswise. There is not - Athens are in still air. We cannot believe that. We ascend to the 2000-ft level as usually and fly against 40-kt wind again. After some 50 miles, the wind gets calmer and suddenly it has only half its strength. Mykonos and Santorini are just the world`s windy bowels.

28/6 Flying round Santorini
Santorini really is a beautiful island. We are not at all sorry for our one-day delay. During the day, we make inquiries concerning tomorrow morning weather forecast and negotiate early evening flight-around. We gradually become experts on local procedures. We can ask all by ourselves for all the papers we need, without which they don`t let us get over the single steps of airport security. We hand over a local flight plan, wait for an autobus which drives us those hundred meters towards our aircraft, and start the engine in the late afternoon.
