For Cheap Gas to Sweden
Possibly the cheapest avgas in Europe is in Sweden, so I choose the way back home along the west coast of Bothen gulf. One litre of Avgas 100LL cost one Euro here. It is 1.7 Euro in Finland. As I find out later, many Finish airports near by Swedish borders don`t even have functional fuel pumps. Everybody flies to refuel at the neighbour`s.

I Leave Artic Circle and Fly South to Finland
The weather keeps nice and there is a pretty clear sky over Finland and the landscape is full of sunlight. Northern Finland, in comparison with Norwegian coast, is quite flat and not so atractive for taking pictures. There are wide plains here with sparse trees and lakes.

Imprisoned behind the Arctic Circle for One Day
It is not possible to fly. The clouds lie lazily on the ground and it drizzles every now and then. I stay in a hotel which is near the airport and I use their fast internet connexion to study all the webpages on weather forecast which I know of. It seems that the lid of cloudiness could go up a little tomorrow and I might be allowed to fly more to the south where there is a nice weather even today.

Around Nordkapp and to the Northernmost European Airport
In the North of Norway there is a stable pressure-height and so the front which was persecuting me the whole flight along the coast at last stayed somewhere underneath. It is however more than a month after the summer solstice and so the sun got a little beyond the horizon for a while at least. But it is light as in the day. There will be yet more light in the night at Nordkapp.

Let`s Flee beyond the Arctic Circle, Rain Follows me
I wake up in the morning into a cloudy grey weather. I hurry to the airport to hand over the flight plan, refuel and quickly towards the north. I start already in quite a dense rain and I have to fly around the adjacent hills by way of the sea. The clouds begin to go up in ten minutes and in other ten minutes I have a cyan blue sky overhead as yesterday.

Flying North between Two Occlusal Fronts
There was a front over Stavanger at night. It got better in the morning and another one appears already in the afternoon. I quickly refuel and start towards the north. The other front looks to be much stronger according to the satellite image and I wouldn`t like to meet it here and fly through the first one on my way north again.

Hoganas Airport - Beautiful Place to Enter Scandinavia
I was at Hoganas airport two years ago with Echo on our trip to Norway and that`s why I already knew what is to be expected here. A beautiful airport with nice accommodation, no landing fees, cheap avgas, the possibility of bike renting and a town with a shop and pubs not even ten minutes off on a bike. They have even upgraded this by a wireless internet connection, free of charge, how else, and considerably fast. We spend a nice evening at a seaport pub with a band playing live.

Little Stop in Denmark on the Way North
On our way from Ameland to Denmark, we wanted to make a stop on some of the magic island in the north coast of Germany, which are the continuance of the Dutch ones. But we couldn`t spare the time so we satisfied ourselves with admiring them from the air. There is a lot of airports and some are really just a stone`s throw from a town. We can see from the air that it would have been a nice walk to the town.

Short E-mail which Has Pleased Me Much
Today I recieved a short, but very pleasing e-mail form "home". I have been on the road for two months now and so I consider each contact with my country as a contact with home.

Northern Dutch Islands - Sand and Sea Game
Amsterdam is a beautiful city. There couples a crude vice with a strange calmness of water channels, boats and bicycles. We fly to the north towards the islands bordering the northern coast of the Netherlands - Friesland. We pass Amsterdam in a little distance north and go on to Texel island. We arrive at an airport of the same name after an hour`s flight.
